On MAC Firefox process doesn't shutdown!
On my MAC Firefox will close, when i close the window, but the process doesn't shutdown!
Moreover, I can neither force the shutdown nor re-open Firefox.
I don't get any error message. The programme is simply stuck and it even blocks the MAC general shutdown.
I am forced to brutally shut the Mac down by pressing the shutdown button for 5 seconds... Very bad indeed!
FYI, I use Firefox's updated version (42.0). Re my Mac, the version is 10.11.1 (El Capitan).
Can somebody help me please?!?
I have searched on the net and tried several proposed solution, but nothing worked at all :((
Thanks in advance to you all. Raniero

You did not say what you tried.
Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift>
(Mac Options) key, and then starting Firefox. Is the problem still there?
Do you have the Firefox icon on your quick launch? Close Firefox. Right click on the icon and select Open New Tab. Sometimes this works. If it opens, close it by Menu > File > Exit.
Hi Fred!
first of all, thank you very much for your answer.
I have just tried the two solutions you have proposed. Unfortunately neither could fix my problem. - after starting Firefox in Safe Mode and shutting it down, the icon on the quick launch bar shows that the programme its still running... but I cannot re-open it any longer, unless I stop and start anew the Mac ; - so, yes, I do have the Firefox icon on the quick launch bar. As I said, once the programme is "closed", no matter what I do, there is no response. Thus, right clicking on the icon is purely useless :((
Do you have any other possible solution I could try ?
I am very close to uninstalling it definitely...
Thanks again! Raniero
