Cannot find emails or contacts in Thunderbird after Easy Transfer to new computer
I used Windows Easy Transfer to move files and programs from old computer to new computer (both Windows 7). I had installed Thunderbird already on the new computer, but after the transfer none of the contacts show up. I saw the instructions on copying profiles from old computer to new computer, via Help-Troubleshooting-Show Profiles. But I can't understand where I'm supposed to copy the profile to. Should i not have installed Thunderbird before the transfer?

It is easier if you do install Thunderbird first.
If you go to Help|Troubleshooting Information there is a button that will take you to the profile. Do this on the new machine. Then you can close Thunderbird and paste your old profile in.
I'm sorry, but this is not easy for me. Can you walk me through the steps? This is what I have done: I installed Thunderbird on my new computer. I connected old computer to new with Easy Transfer cable and transferred everything. I found the Profile on the new computer (open Tbird, Help-Trblshooting-Show profile), but when I look in my account there is nothing in the address book nor are the old messages there. When I transferred, didn't the old profile already become the profile on the new computer? Thank you for your patience.
I have read this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_Easy_Transfer and I am confused by what Easy Transfer will or will not do.
I can't tell for sure if whatever it does includes Thunderbird's profile.
I made sure Thunderbird was transferred by clicking on it in the Transfer window. I can find profiles for my different accounts, so I'm assuming they were transferred over. The folders contain data (they're different sizes). But still nothing comes up in the address book. Maybe I should uninstall Thunderbird, manually copy the profiles onto thumbdrive from old computer and transfer to new computer?
