How do I export my smart mail folders to thunderbird 45?
I finally decided to install the newer version of Thunderbird as my older version wouldn't allow an upgrade. Once installed everything was exported over except for my smart mail folders that I created to hold all my email from separate business accounts. I really need these to be exported over to the newer version.
If I view the "Go" tab I can see them in there but they are locked and don't show up under the folders pane along with Local Folders like they did in version 2.0.0.24. How do I enable them or get them to unlock? Is there another way to export those folders from the old files?

Just wanted to thank everyone for their support. I tried upgrading gradually from version 2.0.0.24 to version 3 but that didn't work either so I just opened my original installation and moved all the folders from the Smart Folder designation into the Local Folders and installed version 45 and they were all there. Not what I wanted but it will suffice. Serves me right for waiting so long to upgrade. ;)

So you jumped from V2 to V45. Is that correct?
I suggest you try a version 3 in there first as the profile conversion code from V2 - V3 was extensive and removed about version 12 I think.
So how do I do that now that I've already installed v45? Do I un-install using the windows un-installer? Will that remove all the registry files that were created when installing v45? I installed v45 to another folder as I wanted to keep my v2.0.0.24 in case something like this happened. Just don't want to create more headaches than needed when doing the un-install/re-install of v3.
Where do I find a copy of V3? I don't see it on the website.
Thanks for the reply and support.

Thunderbird doesn't use the registry so you don't need to worry about that.
Old versions can be found here:

Your smart folders has me somewhat lost. It is a long time ago for me, but if memory serves smart folders was an add-on that basically introduced the unified folder view. These are created now simply by selecting View menu (alt+V) > Folders > Unified.
