Hi, I'm trying to delete a username and associated password for 1 particular site. I navigate to Options>Security>saved logins, and remove the appropriate username/password. i log off/restart/switch off, (no matter what i do) then open the site and i'm still showing thenusername/password. i navigate to log ins and the username/password is still there.

why? what am i doing wrong is there something else i should try?

many thanks all.

Are you using sync?

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-to-fix-preferences-wont-save

Note: Some software, like Advanced SystemCare with Surfing Protection, can protect files in the Firefox profile folder against changes. If you have such software then check the settings or uninstall this software.

Start your Computer in safe mode with networking. Then start Firefox. Try Safe websites. Is the problem still there?

still there i'm afraid fred. it's a 'gateway' log in, (should i have mentioned that before? - oohps) by that i mean it's not a direct connection, i'm using a a site by which we have to log onto to then go through to get on line. so by allowing me to see a safe site - ebay ,(which it did) means it auto-connected me.

this is making you think a bit eh? character building??

best regards

roy

The only thing left is Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift>
(Mac=Options)
key, and then starting Firefox. A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh).

Is the problem still there?

While still in Safe Mode,

Type about:support in the address bar and press Enter. Under the main banner, press the button; Copy Text To Clipboard.. Then in the reply box at the bottom of this page, do a right click in the box and select Paste. This will show us your system details. No Personal Information Is Collected.

Hi Fred, sorry for not getting back to you sooner, but i'm back home now and had one horendous weekend. i'm disabled, confined to a wheelchair and the 3 things i depend most on have all failed. you couldn't write it!!

we're muddling through as we're going back to the lodge tomorrow, was going to be today, see above!

Back to the issue at hand, I've tried the safe mode, and the password details etc appear to have gone. i will start in normal mode now to see if it's still there, but i guess the acid test will be tomorrow when i get back. if it's still there, i will go through the afore given advice you have forwarded and try again. i will respond accordingly. in the meantime, i've copied system details below.

a very many thanks Fred, even though we not have cracked it, i sincerely thank you for your help so far.

Roy
