Trying to update 1Password add-on results in "Add on could not be downloaded because of a connection failure." error message.
I noticed the thread talking about difficulty with add-ons due to connection failure. I am having the same problem but specifically with 1Password. This is a trusted site, and their site states that their add-on is compatible with Firefox. I know this is true because if I manually download the add-on and then manually install it, it works just fine. The connection failure is occurring when I try to auto-update the add-on here by clicking the Big Green Button: https://agilebits.com/onepassword/extensions.
I do have Firefox set up to auto-update add-ons too, but that wasn't working either. Before I manually updated the 1Password add-on yesterday, Firefox said that it hadn't updated this add-on since August 20, 2016.
According to one of 1Password's IT guys (I spoke online with Alex Hoffman), this is a known issue and they have apparently reached out to you before to get this issue fixed. It would be great if this could be resolved so I don't have to manually update the add-on every time!
Help, please. :-) Thanks!

The connection failure seems to be an issue for some users when you give permission to install while on the publishers site but the actual XPI file is served using a redirect to a different site. Since it doesn't affect all users, I suspect it is due to security software, but in past threads, I don't think I've seen a conclusive explanation.
In my case, the actual 1Password XPI file loaded from:
https://d13itkw33a7sus.cloudfront.net/dist/1P/ext/1Password-4.6.1.xpi
(The page uses a meta refresh tag to "push" the download:<meta http-equiv="Refresh" content="1;https://d13itkw33a7sus.cloudfront.net/dist/1P/ext/1Password-4.6.1.xpi">
)
Did the alternate download link work? I was shown this one:
https://cache.agilebits.com/dist/1P/ext/1Password-4.6.1.xpi
Not sure this is useful but for reference on the "connection failure" problem:
