Moved bookmarks from IE 11 to Firefox. Imported them, then dragged them from Internet Explorer folder into "Bookmarks Menu" and deleted the Internet Explorer folder. Some don't work. So how do I delete these? Right click + Delete doesn't work. Right click + Properties only says: 'Properties for "Google"'. Example: Google is grayed-out without URL, so I did a fresh bookmark and it works but leaves the disabled Google behind. Tried to attach a screen shot to this question, but it would not attach.

Are you talking about the bookmarks in Firefox, or are you talking about the directory where Win IE stores its bookmarks?

You can check for problems with the places.sqlite database (bookmarks and history) in the Firefox profile folder.

You may have to use the SQLite Manager extension to cleanup entries manually in the places.sqlite file if Places Maintenance isn't able to fix the database completely.

I uninstalled/reinstalled Firefox, re-imported the favorites from IE/Edge. They all work. So now I have two groups of bookmarks: IE and Firefox. My original intent was to 'merge' the IE favorites into Firefox bookmarks (and, of course, delete any duplicates.) Drag and drop didn't work. What merges favorites into bookmarks so I can delete the "From Microsoft Edge" folder?

Because the two programs store information in different ways, there is no way to make something that both can use.

Because of this, you should not remove the IE bookmarks. Keep them just in case they could be needed.

FredMcD: I didn't realize the file incompatibility. As I am non-technical here, seems that if an 'add-on' were created to open each IE favorite in Firefox and then save as a new Firefox bookmark (and delete any duplicate links) that that would solve this situation..
