Drop-down windows from menu toolbars are very slow and often aren't visible. Works in other browsers
Drop-down menus from toolbars and the drop down menu activated by the right mouse button are very slow (if at all) to appear. Typically, the border of the drop-down window is indicated, but no text. Call it a ghost drop-down window. Eventually, it may appear.

Are you using any kind of blocking add-ons/programs? Is this with all web sites, some, many?
Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} by holding down the <Shift> (Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox.
A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?
Performance in Safe mode is similar. All websites are affected
