Bookmarks not picking up favicon

I'm moving from Chrome back to FF. But I'm having an issue.

In Chrome, to keep things organized and menu flyouts small for known sites. I delete the text for the bookmark and rely on the favicon.

This works fine there, but I'm finding now that many of the bookmarks I have when imported, or set manually, they are not picking up that favicon. Many don't use that same terminology.

One example I'm finding is Amazon. In Chrome, I can set a bookmark to 'my orders' and it picks up the icon. In Firefox it's not, so I get the generic gray globe..

Surprisingly this happens on many sites and I need to find a way to resolve this.

Any ideas?

Do you get the favicon if you visit the website by clicking each of the bookmarks?

That should make Firefox retrieve the favicon from the server.

You can check these prefs on the about:config page to see if they are default.

  • browser.chrome.favicons
  • browser.chrome.site_icons
  • browser.chrome.image_icons.max_size

You can reset user set (bold) pref(s) on the about:config page via the right-click context menu to the default value

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I'll be careful" to continue.

I tried that. i actually opened all my bookmarks in tabs (which is what I normally do if I'm cleaning things out, or starting fresh) but doing so, or visiting it manually, doesn't pick it up.

Amazon is a good example. Neither visiting the Amazon main page, or account page picks it up

EDIT: I'm familliar with about:config. I didnb't catch that when i replied, I'll do that and follow up

Ahh you got it. browser.chrome.favicons was set to false. Changed it and they popped in.

Thank you!
