I'd like to be able to select an element on a page and copy a screenshot of it to the clipboard. I've added "Take a Screenshot" to my address bar and enabled "Screenshot to Clipboard" in developer tools.

I click "Take a Screenshot", then click on the element, and I get the "Drag or click on the page to select a region" prompt. I click on an element and get the highlight box around the element. Then I click the "Download" icon to save the screenshot.

At this point, since I have "Screenshot to Clipboard" enabled, I should be able to go into Photoshop or Word or whatever and paste the screenshot. Instead the clipboard is unchanged.

Am I misunderstanding how "Screenshot to Clipboard" works? I'm using Firefox Developer Edition 57.0b12.

It would also be great if, instead of checking a box in Developer Tools, the screenshotting tool just added a "copy" button alongside "Download" and "Save/upload".

You aren't mixing two things?

You need to use right-click context menu in the Inspector to take a screenshot from a specific element. The Firefox screenshot extension available since Firefox 56 can save the screenshot, but this extension doesn't use the settings you make in the developer tools.
