Please consider turning on send info to Mozilla before posting a question. This helps us help you. As I have no info from your system that would help see things that cause issues. The info you included would have been formatted into context for me and would have been associated to a Extension name.
SO I am only guessing here.
Dump any extension that has @jetpack in it.
Other than Linux files are crashing no idea. Use what ever tools you have to fix up Linux
Uninstall Firefox. Delete Mozilla Firefox folders in C:\Program Files and C:\Program Files (X86) Use your disk cleanup program to empty temp files ect. Reboot.
Install Firefox from a Full Version Installer https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/
Note : Firefox 57 Quantum release date Nov 14th https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/quantum/ Note : Legacy Extensions will be disabled and or removed.
Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.
Thank you for the response!
I understand that it could very well be something to do with Linux at root but I cant troubleshoot without some help to interpret the crash report. Ive tried the boards for my distro but firefox is not giving any helpful error message on the Linux side.
I am following the advice in this support article. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-crashes-troubleshoot-prevent-and-get-help#w_get-help-fixing-this-crash
I cant turn on 'send info to mozilla' as the program wont launch. I did submit several crash reports which I assumed would have the information you are looking for. They are linked at the beginning of my original post.
The crash occurs both in safemode and when launched normally, which seems to indicate that a plugin is not at the root of the problem. I had only three plugins installed: Privacy badger, Blur, and vimFx. However completely uninstalling, cleaning my system and reinstalling the program from the package manager has the same result.
Is there any resource to help me make sense of the crash reports?
Well.... firefox crash reason SIGSEGV https://askubuntu.com/questions/693763/firefox-crashed-with-sigsegv
There really has not been any issues since 2015 with this error.
Best I can help you with.
