Hi,

Is it possible and how to merge accounts so that all mails income in the local folder ? Instead of having each mail account with its own incoming mails folder.

Thank you

Go to Tools|Account Settings|{select account}|Server Settings|Message Storage→Advanced.

You need to select the "Use Inbox for different account" option, and in that, choose Global Inbox, and also you'll want to set the "Include this account…" option.

You can also choose to use a common folder for Sent, Junk and so on, but IIRC, you do that in each incoming account's settings. I'm not entirely sure how you can set where deleted messages go.

I repeat that this option is available only in POP-based accounts. IMAP accounts won't share folders in this way.

Thanks for your answer. It kind of helps (I didn't know this trick) but I was looking for more like an account configuration so that I wouldn't have my fifteen accounts listed in the view but just the local folder one.

You can do this with POP-connected accounts. You can set Thunderbird to merge these accounts into the Global Inbox and the separate accounts are hidden.

There are other ways to place all your incoming into one place, but none of these will hide the multiple accounts themselves.

  • Unified Folders (as Wayne has described)
  • Saved Search folders (effectively user-defined unified folders)
  • Message Filters to move messages on receipt

More radically, have each account set to forward to one single "master" account. Do this at the server level. In Thunderbird you set up only the "master" account.

Personally I very much prefer to keep my accounts separate and visible and so I don't do what you're trying, so have limited experience of how well any of these work.

Hi Zenos, This is exactly what I am looking for but how can I achieve this ?

In a pop-connected account's properties, there is an advanced options button which offers this feature. I don't have Thunderbird here in front of me to check the exact location for you.

Thanks a very lot Zenos ! I actually already have a lot a directory with redirecting, plus the whole bunch of accounts it was kind of.. unpleasant. :) But now it's all neat ! Thanks again !
