Will Chrome import bookmarks, folders and all, from Firefox?

I see plenty of information on how to copy bookmarks from Chrome to Firefox and vice versa. But what if you have hundreds of bookmarks sorted into various folders? Will folders make it in the import process either way or both ways? TIA! Bruce from Lancaster, NY

No harm trying, right? In Chrome you can set up a new "person" for testing to avoid damaging your current settings. This is similar to Firefox profile. Then when you're done testing, you can dump it. See: Share Chrome with Others.

Firefox to Chrome

To create an HTML-format export file in Firefox, see: Export Firefox bookmarks to an HTML file to back up or transfer bookmarks

Then in Chrome somewhere, you can import that file. Since Chrome's design is somewhat different, the folders might be added to the Bookmarks Bar.

Could you let us know what you learn?

Chrome to Firefox

Firefox can import directly from Chrome, or from an HTML export file generated from Chrome.

Due to the different structures, the imported folders may end up in an "Imported Bookmarks" file on the Bookmarks Menu instead of being distributed between the Menu and the Bookmarks Toolbar.

You can use the Library window (evolution of the Bookmarks Organizer) to move things around. Let us know if you run into any problems.
