Carol,
How did you solve your issue, or what did you find is causing the problem??

Username is usually your full email address, but sometimes it is just the first part before the @. Password is same pasword you would use to logon to webmail account via a browser.
If Thunderbird usually does this automatically then the info can be located here:
- 'Menu icon' > 'Options' > 'Options' > 'Security' > 'Passwords' tab
- clickon 'Saved Passwords' button
- click on 'Show passwords' button
use this information to logon to your webmail account via a browser to check the info is ok.
However, you may be being blocked by your Firewall which has not realised the updated Thunderbird is the same as the old version. So, check this is working correctly.
Exit thunderbird. Access Firewall which may be part of your Anti-virus product. Thunderbird needs to be an allowed program. If it is already set as allowed, block it and ok it. then access Firewall again and set Thunderbird as allowed and ok it. Then start Thunderbird.
If still not connecting please post the following information. In Thunderbird.
- Help > Troubleshooting Information
- Do Not select checkbox to include account names.
- click on 'Copy text to clipboard' button
- In this forum question, right click in a 'Post a Reply' text box and select 'Paste'
- You can edit/ remove the info on fonts and printers, but nothing else.
If you are getting any error messages please state what they are word for word.
