every where I go on the web, everyone wants to have a second level of security. Fine! But some sites thinks that everyone has a iPhone or any cellphone capable of accepting text messages. Capital Bank thought they could send az text message to my landline phone. Needless to say, I have since closed my account with them. It seems to be the norm that everyone has a text-capable cell-phone and you must enter a valid phone number to continue. So, I give them my landline number and there programmers are too busy to program a subroutine to verify if it is text-capable. But then, some are now catching on that not everyone is money rich and intelligence poor. There are a few sites that have allowed the user the option of receiving their second-level security code via - email, phone call ( non-SMS capable phones ), or text. Smart! But doesn't that negate their second level of security?

Please be aware that not all people have a phone or a cell phone or a text-capable CELL phone.

p.s. This is more of a observation rather than a question unless Firefox is going to change their requirements for their second-level security.

Hi

Please can you clarify the issue you are having with Firefox?

As far as I am aware, there is no mandatory requirement to have an SMS capable mobile device to use Firefox or have a Firefox account.

Sprint used to have a service where they would telephone a landline and have a robotic voice read a text message. Very weird if it ever happened to you.

seburo, you should read the entire post and not what you want to. I said it was an O B S E R V A T I O N, observation. How do you solve an observation? You can't!

Since this rants gives no specific site for anyone to verify your story how would one whom gives Observation but fails to give links to the problem that your getting to even begin to make a Observation of the problem.

WestEnd, Why do you need to answer what is not asked. There are links furnished to protect the innocent. Off the top of my head, social security, yahoo, google, etc all ask for a mobile number when you create an account. But you don't have to accept my observation (and I know you won't), please try them yourself.

Have fun and HAPPY NEW YEAR☎️
