can't download updates after following all suggestions posted
The firefox update download gives me a file that I can open the file - however, nothing is executable. I am using Ubuntu 18.04.

What's the full name of the file & its file size? Does it end in a .deb?
My friend Bittin suggested you use this link to download the right update: http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/main/f/firefox/firefox_65.0+build2-0ubuntu0.18.04.1_amd64.deb
How were you trying to get the Firefox update btw? Was Firefox trying to update automatically when you downloaded this non-working file?
