Master password doesn't work and can't delete it

I tried to reset (delete) my master password but prompts keep asking for it. I wrote it down and haven't forgotten it but system doesn't recognize it. I even tried deleting Firefox and reinstalling but that didn't work. I followed all instructions but to no avail.
