has mozilla been infiltrated by googlies?

since the last firefox update we have lost formerly reliable video streams - playback error, the browser spell check, recent bookmark access, and have constant 503 errors on previously accessible sites. And yes, we have applied various suggested fixes and work arounds.

Update supposedly implies improvements, right? Not a way to force feed chrome?

. . . and have constant 503 errors

There is security software like Avast, Kaspersky, BitDefender and ESET that intercept secure connection certificates and send their own.

have done several FF resets, turned off sites' tracking protection, installed no new software since last FF update, added new dictionaries, et cetera, et cetera.

have been using FF for many years and incredibly disappointed it has become so problematic in the name of marginally fashionable security improvements.

Suppose we will have to use safari - sad day.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link}

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

Thank you Fred. Tried that previously and again now. Some issues alleviated - online form spell checker and streaming on one site - and did another FF reset.

What might be in question is the creative cloud updater, which adobe constantly rejigs - perhaps that is causing some concerns for our dear FF.
