I have reinstalled Thunderbird after months of everything slowing down to a complete unusable stop. After finally identifying a folder that TB did not consider "not suitable" (with no further info or explanation), I spent the night installing & configuring my 10 email accounts. Finally, to check everything was working smoothly, I shut TB down & reopened it again, but all it shows me now is the initial "Choose What to Set Up" page with "Set Up Your Existing Email Address". I.e. it goes back to square 1 & does not recognise anything I've spent the night setting up. How do I get TB to open up my list of accounts normally like it used to do?

Launch the profiles that are not in use in a new browser (Tbird Windows) using that button below each profile. See if NONE of them has your accounts.

Where was this unsuitable folder located? There are certain locations that will give you trouble if you try to use them for Tbird storage. Some folks think it's wise to relocate their data to system folders like C:\Windows, not knowing they're making idiosyncratic changes that are more trouble than it's worth. I hope you're not trying something similar.

Go to Help > Troubleshooting Information > about:profiles. How many profiles do you see listed in the About Profiles tab that opens?

Thanks Stans. There are now 3. There were originally Profile: default-release, Profile: (My Name), and now also Profile: (New name), after I followed someone else's advice to create a new one. I originally wanted to create the profiles in H:\MyCompany\Mail. I eventually installed them in C:\Mail (the Root Directory given in this 3rd Profile).

Thanks, the "default-release" one worked, which I don't understand as it is in a directory that I did not register. I wanted to install it on a different disk (as it had been before) because my C:/ disk has limited space, but they all came back "unsuitable". I have created a C:/Mail/MyName but this is not the "default-release" address. Confusing. Anyway, it all seems to be working now, so thanks.
