When I go to the sign in page in Firefox 80, and click on the sign in button, I then get an endless wheel going round. How do I get past this to sign into my account/ Thank You

Hi, do you mean the Firefox Account sign-in page at
or is it a different page?
The System Details list shows a Firefox 55.2.0 version. The minimum Firefox version to access the accounts.firefox.com is currently 58, so you need to update to a newer Firefox version.

Yes that is the acounts page I mean. Constant spinning wheel.
Details show Firefox 55 because I have an old version of Waterfox installed, and I can log in with that, otherwise I would not be able to ask or reply to questions.
I am running Firefox 80 with W10, but can't sign in with it, only the old Waterfox version.
I have restarted Firefox 80 in safe mode, but it made no difference. Still spinning wheel.
If you use extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) that can block content (Adblock Plus, NoScript, Disconnect, Ghostery, Privacy Badger, uBlock Origin) always make sure such extensions do not block content.
- make sure your extensions and filters are updated to the latest version
- https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-extensions-themes-to-fix-problems
Firefox shows a purple shield instead of a gray shield at the left end of the location/address bar in case Enhanced Tracking Protection is blocking content. You can click shield icon for more detail and possibly disable the protection. You can check the Web Console for messages about blocked content.

You can remove all data stored in Firefox for a specific domain via "Forget About This Site" in the right-click context menu of an history entry ("History -> Show All History" or "View -> Sidebar -> History").
Using "Forget About This Site" will remove all data stored in Firefox for this domain like history and cookies and passwords and exceptions and cache, so be cautious. If you have a password or other data for that domain that you do not want to lose then make sure to backup this data or make a note.
You can't recover from this 'forget' unless you have a backup of involved files.
If you revisit a 'forgotten' website then data for that website will be saved once again.
You can check for problems with preferences. You can delete possible user.js and numbered prefs-##.js files and rename/remove the prefs.js file to reset all prefs to the default value including prefs set via user.js and prefs that are no longer supported in current Firefox releases.
You can use the button on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page to go to the current Firefox profile folder or use the about:profiles page.
- Help -> Troubleshooting Information -> Profile Folder/Directory:
Windows: Open Folder; Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder - https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profiles-where-firefox-stores-user-data
You can create a new profile as a quick test to see if your current profile is causing the problem.
See "Creating a profile":
If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a previously used profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over problems.
I have deleted Firefox, and installed 81.0.1. also ran it in safe mode. No difference. I think it is time to give Edge a go. Been happy with FF for years but can't afford to waste more time trying to make it work
What is the User Agent you see in Firefox 80 81 ?
- Click the Firefox menu button , click Help and select "Troubleshooting Information" (or enter about:support in the Firefox address bar). The Application Basics section of the page that opens will include a "User Agent" entry.
See How to reset the default user agent on Firefox for more information.

only entry in config is: general.useragent.compatMode.firefox
You can check the Web Console for related messages and warnings.

Just had quick look there. Way over my head.
I added a link to this thread in a recently reported bug (in case it helps):
Bug 1669501 Opened 2020-10-06 10:37 EDT Can't log in to SUMO, logging in gets stuck
Disregard, that issue was for Nightly, resolved by updating.

I think it is time to save my regular Mozilla donations and join the masses and move to Edge. Thanks for all the replies, it is just a shame that there is no Mozilla help when something is terminally wrong.

I'm sorry that you have not found a solution.
As cor-el suggested earlier, you can try a new "test" profile (start Firefox 81, enter about: profiles in the address bar, click the [Create a New Profile] button and follow the prompts). This article has the details on how to create a new Firefox profile:
If the new profile works then old one was the problem.
