When addressing an email, I *much* prefer the previous alignment of To, Cc and Bcc all in one line with the ability to switch between them. Any way to get that back? I use cc quite often and I'm finding the new layout awkward and less flexible.

I have posted a screenshot of what I am seeing with the new TB 78. Thanks for your help.

When anything new is thrown upon us, it can derail us a bit - it stopped me in my tracks at first. This is because we have muscle memory and so just do things automatically because we've done it for so long. When something new happens it stops us in out tracks as we have to retrain ourselves.

I help on the Forum, so I've got two installations running both 68* and 78* at the same time. In order to help others, I had to get to grips with this new method and I'm not exactly a spring chicken. So, I really do understand how it can upset the apple cart and feel very awkward and not so easy or natural.

However, this new design is actually quicker because there are less clicks - believe me I really did test and count them. It has also been designed to make it so much easier for people who had lists of addresses in text files.

Helpers have taken the time to write a really good Help Article, which I found to be extremely useful read as it answered several of my issues and got me up and running much quicker. This is a link to that 'Addressing an email' article.

This area is still being worked on so new improvements eg: ability to auto set as visible a Cc field, are still in the pipeline.

If you think about it, it does not make a lot of sense to give up security and bug fix improvements just because you are not currently all tickety-boo at the moment. It is also a bit more complicated to go back as since version 68, Thunderbird has been a dedicated profile per installation and with version 78 all the address books were formatted from mab files to sqlite files. So going backwards would mean altering address books and starting thunderbird from the command line with a special code to allow downgrade and open Profile manager and then selecting the profile before starting Thunderbird. I can offer you instructions if you really want to do it, but I would ask that you give it a real chance because it may seem awkward at first but it really is easier to use.

Thanks for the thorough explanation. I will give 78 a try and see if I can adapt. It's always good for me to practice patience when life (or TB) throws me a curve ball!  :-)
