Will not accept new ATT/Yahoo password.
Thank you for providing a place to ask unusual questions about your wonderful email client. My problem: Yahoo suggested I needed a new password for one of my ATT mail account (sparklex@att.net). This hadn't happened before and for some reason none of my other ATT/Yahoo accounts contacted me. I created a new pass and sparklex@att logs in directly to the Yahoo email display where I have sent/received messages. Next I deleted my sparklex@att.net account on Thunderbird and tried to reinstall it. T'Bird automatically found the correct configuration as expected, but failed to recognize the new password. Your guidance would be appreciated. Ray Goldstein.

If you're connecting through the AT&T servers, generate a secure mail key and use that instead of the account password in TB. Remove the passwords from Saved Passwords in Options, restart TB, enter the key when prompted for a password.

Thank you for such a prompt reply. One factor I should have told you is that I just changed my ISP from ATT to Comcast/Xfinity. I was assured I could keep my "att" and "sbcglobal" accounts which so far I have. Thank you again for this thread. Ray
Even if your ISP is Comcast, 'connecting through the AT&T servers' means you're still connecting to AT&T mail servers, so the authentication requirements are the same, just as they would be if you were on a non-Comcast network, such as public wifi.
