Somehow my Firefox Android got upgraded accidentally to the current version and disabled all my extensions. I uninstalled and downgraded to the Firefox Android I was previously using (v.68), but the extension downloads are gone from add-ons Mozilla. How can I sideload the old .xpi extension files back into this version where they used to work?

I don't believe an external source has the right to dictate how I use my device in the name of so-called "security." [If so, they need to come and take my car and motorcycle away because they're much more dangerous than v.68; you can easily die from those.]

Apparently using a nightly version might accomodate old extensions (I'm not a developer and don't really know), but I'd really like to get back to my previous configuration 100% and not run a newer version.

Hi

The current version of Firefox for Android dies not have support for more add-ons at the present time. You may wish to follow this process to install the add-ons you wish to use:

https://blog.mozilla.org/addons/2020/09/29/expanded-extension-support-in-firefox-for-android-nightly/

I hope that this helps.

Thanks for taking the time to answer, but don't want to run a nightly build. I have Firefox Android v.68 which should support all the extensions I need, so just running a nightly won't solve this issue: I can't find the old extensions since Mozilla took them down so I need to know 1.) how to side load the .xpi extension files and 2.) where to find them on the web in the first place. I suspect the xpi's on my phone got deleted when I uninstalled the upgrade which a lot of people hate.

Essentially my browser was hijacked and crippled, not by a virus but by an upgrade, and I have to restore its previous functionality. I have a handicap so this is a rights issue.

The old version of Firefox for Android is no longer supported with updates, security fixes and add-ons.

We are looking to increase the availability of more add-ons in the new Firefox for Android in future updates.

Until then, the method a provided a link to is how to add further add-ons in Firefox for Android.
