Make sure you are not blocking content.
Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot(Safe) Mode {web link}
A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Troubleshoot(Safe) Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

It does not happen in Safe mode (but why is it happening after upgrading to the latest version, I would assume it should be improvement and not additional problems) clearing cookies does not help
It could be the work of one of your add-ons, or it could be Hardware Acceleration. How to disable Hardware Acceleration {web link}
Type about:addons<enter> in the address bar to open your Add-ons Manager. Hot key; <Control> (Mac=<Command>) <Shift> A)
In the Add-ons Manager, on the left, select Extensions. Disable a few add-ons, then Restart Firefox.
Some added toolbar and anti-virus add-ons are known to cause Firefox issues. Disable All Of them.
If the problem continues, disable some more (restarting FF). Continue until the problem is gone. After, you know what group is causing the issue. Re-enable the last group ONE AT A TIME (restarting FF) until the problem returns.
Once you think you found the problem, disable that and re-enable all the others, then restart again. Let us know who the suspect is, detective.
I have to disable both Adblockplus and uBlock Origin to get the Compose back. Disabling just one does not do it. FF cannot ask me to use it without blocking ads. You would think that an upgrade should not make your life miserable. I will have to go to the previous version this is too much.
Note: Having more than one blocker could cause problems.
Load the web page. After the page is loaded, click the Ad Block icon. Now select Disable on <website>. After, reload the page.
No that does not work. I cannot enable any of the two. Either one of them is causing the problem. They both have to be disabled. What is the point of upgrading, again when it causes more problems?
Follow my instructions on both ad blockers.
You are not very clear. What web page, what ad block icon? Disable and then what? Live with ads?
It does not seem that you understand my problem. I will restate it again. The new version of FF has problems with my ad blockers. Each one of them independently causes the disappearance of Compose button. This would leave me without ad protection if I disable them. Is that your advice?
I did not say to disable the ad blockers.

I have no idea what you are talking about. Perhaps, you could be a little less opaque and explain what you mean. This is what I get when I click on ad icon:
Block ads on This website:
mail.yahoo.com This page:
/b/folders/1/messages/AArYbXEIVDmWYPJluwbKSBBI21U?… Number of items blocked on this page 2 in total 255,811 Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Interested in Adblock Plus on mobile?
Many ad blockers have a way to not block a selected website from being blocked while still blocking on other sites.
Thank you, I understand. Yahoo mail has annoying ads, though.
Something I mentioned before- why is it that FF updates often lead to new problems. I noticed it in the past when I had to spend time to fix it and not being particularly computer savvy it is bothersome. Maybe it is time to use a different browser.
Every time Mozilla updates the browser, we get many complaints about just about everything.
I didn’t like where Firefox Quantum was going. So, I stopped updating at v54. So far, no real issues.
Thanks Fred, I am going to downgrade to previous version.
