I cannot access my current version (78.11.0) of Thunderbird (popup message indicates it's not compatible) I know a new version just released on 7/13/21, shall I uninstall current version to upgrade?

I assume this is the error message which is telling you the version is incompatible with the same version. Just re install from thunderbird.net it will not change anything, but it will clear the error.
