I use Windows 10 photo editor app and can no longer send photos by email from that app-I am getting this error message:

Secure connection failed

start.thunderbird.net uses an invalid security certificate.

The certificate is not trusted because the issuer certificate has expired.

(Error code: sec_error_expired_issuer_certificate)

This could be a problem with the server's configuration, or it could be someone trying to impersonate the server.
If you have connected to this server successfully in the past, the error may be temporary, and you can try again later.

Or you can add an exception…

This sounds like your Anti-Virus program being a pain. Add an exception.

What is the Anti-Virus you are using?

Thanks for replying to my question. I am using McAfee anti virus and have been using it for years with no issues like this. The error message says that I can Add An Exception but when I click on that nothing happens-is there another way to add an exception? Thanks. Lynda

Then you have been exceedingly lucky. I have been fielding questions from McAfee users in this forum and others since they introduced a new heuristics engine in 2012 and the product ceased to be stable. It was also about the time John McAfee sold the company. But that should not be relevant.

I think you need to post a screen capture (use windows snipping tool and save it as a PNG file to upload) of the actual information being displayed when you click view. It may be McAfee have changed other security settings so you are using a certificate database in Windows you do not have access to edit.

Hi Matt,

Thanks for reply of Dec 27-I have had a busy time over the past few days and am now replying to your suggestion. I don't know how to use the Windows snipping tool-what if I take a photo of the error message and then I can upload that for you to see. I was also wondering about contacting McAfee since I agree that it probably an issue with that anti-virus program. Thanks, Lynda

'Snipping Tool' or 'Snip and sketch' will give a clearer image than taking a photo of a computer screen. Try? Click start and type Snip - or ask Cortana if you prefer. Snipping tool should appear. Open it, click New, then hold down your left mouse button to drag a box on your computer screen around the part you want to snip. Let go the mouse button then choose Save (floppy disk icon). It's fun and very useful!

Thanks-I'll give that try.
