Hi, Since upgrading to 91.7.0 all my attachments open in an annoying read-only mode. I have tried everything to remedy.

Files & Attachments Save files is set to Downloads

browser.helperApps.deleteTempFileOnExit is set to false

Still all attachments open from an obscure subdirectory of /private with all settings on read-only.

Up to this last Thunderbird upgrade everything worked just fine and attachment would require just a double click to open in read-write mode.

I searched the support database but everything points me to browser.helperApps.deleteTempFileOnExit which is (and has been) set to false.

Any suggestions?

My understanding is Apple devices have had their storage location for attachments that are opened changed to the system Temp folder to bring apples os into line with Linux and Windows. Temp files by definition are opened as read only as they only exist to view the content of the file and are then deleted. Are you saying something different is happening?

Hi Matt, It may be that it is due to a change in the MacOS that somehow coincided with my Thunderbird upgrade. However that may explain only part of it. Up to this recent upgrade I never had the MS office attachments open read-only.

I could immediately edit them without having to duplicate and save before editing. Once done editing I'd usually use "save as" to store them somewhere useful. Now I need to do several things before I can start editing. It disturbs my ingrained workflow and is therefor quite annoying.
