I located an article on this site that provides lengthy explanation on how to do this but my concern is if I copy and past the code and it is not placed exactly right my browser is non functional. All I want to do is widen vertical scroll bar, it seems crazy I have to know code to do this. ANy other suggestions would be very much appreciated. It is very frustrating.

Hello! You can try using a browser extension for this, you can try the following add-on https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/custom-scrollbars/

There are preferences in about:config which widen the scrollbars; search there for widget.n You can do very little with userContent.css. The preference widget.non-native-theme.scrollbar.style has the values listed below.
