Hi, I have two Win10 computers both with Thunderbird installed. Each computer has a different email account that Thunderbird controls. While they are separate accounts (i.e. different user names) the mail service (domain name) is the same. How can I move both accounts on to a new Win11 computer using Thunderbird? I've read the instructions on how to move Thunderbird from an old computer to a new computer but I wonder if I use those instructions I will overwrite one of the accounts. thanks

  • You can have two email accounts using the same domain. All you need to do is

1. migrate one PC to the new PC. That gets one account moved. 2. Then, define the other email account on new PC, fully, including incoming and outgoing server. Then, if it's a POP account, you can copy the folders from other computer to overwrite the mail folders defined in new account. Do this when TB is NOT running.

If you have trouble with step 1, do NOT do step 2 until the migration is done. If you're unsure on how to do that, let me know.

David, thanks I'll try it and let you know how it works. I did forget to mention that both accounts on the old computer are IMAP format. thanks
