"Bookmark Notes"
I'm a long time Firefox user and for years I used the Notes section in Mozilla Firefox Bookmarks until it was removed in Rel 6.2. Next I used the ESR path to save all my Notes in Firefox Bookmarks. I used the notes to store the "what was your favorite dog?" security question, and notes on how to find hidden document at that web site.
This forum then suggestion I install an Extension "Bookmark Notes" It took a lot of time to manually copy my answers over to "Bookmark Notes", web site by web site, to all of my PCs.
Now I find that all of my information is missing from this extension and "Bookmark Notes" has gone unsupported since 2021.
- How can I repair "Bookmark Notes" Extension?
- Where are the notes stored for this extension?
- Can I reload all the copied information from a back up of my windows drive?
- Is there a replacement for the "Bookmark Notes" extension?

Hi wildrice, Here's a remark from the Bookmark Notes Support site-
Bookmark & Notes Disappear Notes is empty each time I open Firefox. I click on Tools> Add-ons. I then click Disable in Bookmark Notes. Then I click Enable> and Notes loads.

That is a crazy solution! It did bring back all of my stored information but every time I close Firefox I have to disable and then enable "Bookmark Notes" to get to my information. Is there some way for a permanent fix? Will Mozilla bring back a standard way to store notes attached to each book mark?
This is encouraging. I thought I lost all of my notes on 100 + bookmarks. I will try this on my other PCs and see if it works.
I hope there's some way for you to "export" all of your Notes from that extension.
As far as Mozilla's plans for Bookmarks, I can't comment, but there's the new site where you can relate your issue and present your ideas -
Mozilla Connect https://connect.mozilla.org/
Extensions store their data in indexedDB (storage\default) in the Firefox profile folder. Each extension has its own moz_extension://{UUID} link that you can find on the about:debugging page under "This Firefox". You can click the "Inspect" button to open the inspector and go to the Storage tab and select Extension Storage to find what data the extension stores.
RobertJ Thank you for finding this work around. I tested it on all my PCs and I have to Disable then re-enable the "bookmark Notes " extension every time I start Firefox. It takes about 5 clicks disable then to find my response to the web site but it works. Now I just need to fine a short cut to the disable to make this work around usable.
co-el Thanks for pointing me to the storage. I'm not a Mozilla programmer but I now know what to backup and restore.
You could make a bookmark on your toolbar to about:addons or, right-click on the toolbar icon and select Manage Extension.
