Nothing will load in my browser after an Android update to my phone last night. All pages that I was viewing yesterday on different tabs remain gray--no error or other indication of how to fix this. Chrome and Incognito load the same pages without issue and work fine.

I suspect the issue was introduced with the Android update to my phone last night but not sure.

Hi

Thank you for your question. Are you using the dark theme option in Firefox for Android?

more options

Yes. But I just changed to Light and no difference except that the page is white now. Still no content--pages won't load. It appears that Firefox thinks every URL is unsecure/not safe based on the lock icon with a red line through it in the URL field for every URL I've entered, including "google.com" (https://)

Ok, thank you.

Please can you type about:support in the address bar and using the "Copy text to clipboard" option at the top of the screen (may be very small), then paste the contents of that page in a reply to this thread.

I did as you asked and still don't get anything on the page. It's completely blank (whether in Dark or Light mode) and nothing displays except the home button, the URL field (with the "unsecure" lock icon), the number of open tabs icon, and the menu icon. There isn't any option for Copy text to clipboard--nothing loads.

Is this not the place to get help for my Mozilla Firefox app on my Samsung S21+ phone? Currently, the app is useless there. I have always preferred Firefox over Chrome but the scales are tipping based on this support experience--very frustrating so far.

Hi

Does switching between two tabs fix the problem?

Does switching to another app and then back to Firefox for Android fix the problem?

Do they have Android dark mode enabled?

more options

No, no, and no. Can I really be the only person in the world who suddenly lost all functionality in Firefox with the recent Android update for the Samsung S21+? I really have a hard time believing this is only *my* problem and that it is a local issue and not introduced by that software update somehow breaking Firefox. Has anyone looked into that possibility? Or is it "more fun" to just let a user flounder for days on end with no realistic troubleshooting efforts or potential workarounds? The worst thing about the internet and chatbots is that all technology companies have eliminated any chance to talk with Support folks who can help resolve an issue in a reasonable amount of time... ::sad::

Hi

Thank you. I can assure you that I am not a chatbot, and you are not the only person with this issue. I am trying to understand the symptoms so that we can look into a fix for this.

I know that YOU, Paul, are not a chatbot. I meant that as a more global state of the technology support world these days. The fact that there isn't a phone number to call and get help is the issue; the chatbot, like these never-ending email/post exchanges are just tools that those technology companies use to justify not having any real-time personal contact between users and the support teams.

But even your efforts have been flat; not very informative (somebody could've disclosed/admitted that this is a widespread issue long before I asked) and not very aggressive in the effort to find the source of the problem (like getting on a call or in some other, more time-efficient way to gather the info that will help you find the root cause). You previously asked me about Dark mode; we already covered that. And asking if I have switched back and forth to see if it would start working again during the past 3+ days that this has been broken is laughable. I use my phone for a lot more than Firefox and am not sitting here for 3 days staring at Firefox to see if it comes back to life. And everytime I click a link in my emails, I am taken to Firefox where I am again met with this issue and the reminder that there has been no progress or even an update in more than 3 days.

FYI: I have restarted my phone twice in these last three days and I have cleared cache and closed Firefox three times since this issue started--neither has had any impact on Firefox.

Maybe it's just time to change my browser default to Chrome and maybe someday, when I check my Firefox app again, I'll find that it's working again.
