https://read.amazon.com/kindle-library is now not allowing me to go onto the website. I've tried talking to Amazon customer support but they can't find a problem on their end. It says:

The connection has timed out

The server at read.amazon.com is taking too long to respond.

The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments.
If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer’s network connection.
If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the web.

I haven't had a problem with the website before and every other website I have tried works fine. It's just that one. I have added it to my exceptions list for add ons but it didn't fix it.

Sounds like it's could be incompatible browser with Firefox browser and you will have to use either Edge, Chrome or Safari to access more options on Amazon. I currently use Chrome for majority of my internet for login sites but I still Firefox for downloading software updates and sites that work in both Firefox or Chrome.

I've been able to use if for the last 3 years on firefox. I was even able to open it just today, but for some reason it won't let me do it again.

I'm able to get in, so it may depend on a setting, interference by old cached files/cookies, different add-ons, or some other factor.

As a first test, could you try it in a private window and see whether that makes any difference? Either:

  • Ctrl+Shift+P and then navigate to the site
  • right-click the link in your original question > Open Link in New Private Window

Let us know if you observe any improvement.

It still doesn't work in a private tab either. Thank you though.

Hmm, it sounds like Firefox is able to make a secure connection, but for some reason, the page just isn't coming through. Could you open the Network Monitor (Ctrl+Shift+E) in that tab (it should occupy the lower half) and then reload bypassing the cache using Ctrl+Shift+R (or shift+click the Reload button on the toolbar). The Network monitor should list the requests Firefox is sending, along with time bars showing the load time. Are there problems with particular servers -- is it just read.amazon.com?

(Example screenshot attached showing where the different server names are listed)

Yes. It's just this website that I am having trouble with. My bottom box looks different from yours. It has a red circle with a line through it and only shows one item. The second one in your list.
