This problem started recently, but unsure what has changed in my settings or Windows XP configuration to cause it. Whenever I click a link that opens a popup window or whenever I open a new Firefox window, any existing open Firefox windows that are minimized on the taskbar restore themselves behind the new window (z-order).

Hi,

Well I've done more investigation now and have cured the problem. Maybe it will work for you too.

I had the 'Ask & Record' toolbar and program from Applian. Disabling this toolbar in Firefox has stopped the symptoms sp I am happy now!

I started by looking at the possible 'tweaks' that I can use from About:config but when rereading the TweakGuides.com advice to create a new profile I realised that the problem didn't exist in the default settings so it must be one of my add-ons that was causing it.

If I can be bothered I may go back to Applian to see if they have a solution but then I don't use the program often so may just live with it.

Good luck, Ham

P.S. Justto confirm ....I didn't need to delete anything - just disable the add-on so I can enable it again if I need/want to use it again.

Ham, Thanks for the suggestion. I didn't have the 'Ask & Record' toolbar and program from Applian running. But, I started to disable different Add-Ons I had running. Disabling the 'Ask Toolbar' v3.4.4.118 Extension add-on seems to work for me.

thanks again for the pointer to a simple solution, keith
