jqs@sun.com = Java Quick Starter bunch of cafeee stuff and abcde stuff = identifies the installation folders of the Java add-ons (extensions and plugins in Firefox). Complete list of all letters/numbers/dashes is important to help you.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode. See http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode 1. Don't tick any items, click Continue to Safe Mode. 2. If everything is OK in Safe Mode, disable all item re: Java in Tools/Add-ons/Extensions and Plug-ins. 3. Then click File/Restart Firefox.

If Firefox starts, then go to Tools/Add-ons/Extensions or Plugins, enable ONE JAVA ITEM (leave JQS disabled), click File/Restart Firefox. When Firefox won't start, you found the problem.

About Java in Firefox: http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Using+the+Java+plugin+with+Firefox

What version is ur Java? Start/Settings/Control Panel/Java, click Java tab, click View, version number is in Product column. Another way to check is http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/plugincheck/ You can try to update Java from that Java Control Panel, if you want to. You can disable JQS in the Java Control Panel, Advanced/Miscellaneous.
