I downloaded 4.0; then moved Firefox 4.0dmg into my Applications folder. When I tried to open it, I was asked if I wanted to replace a previous version, and I said Yes. Then when I tried to open 4.0, I got the message my system would not support it. Of course, I did not notice at first that the Firefox symbol had a big slash through it. In any case, I can't open 4.0 and 3.6 has disappeared from my Applications folder.

Unfortunately, Firefox supports only Mac OS X 10.5 and above on Intel hardware. The system that you are currently using is no longer supported by Firefox (details can be found here).

You can revert back to previous version of Firefox by following these steps:

  1. Open the Applications folder.
  2. Drag the Firefox application to the Trash.
  3. Download and install Firefox 3.6 from here.

If you wish to use another Firefox-like browser on your current system, you can download TenFourFox. Note that TenFourFox is not developed or endorsed by Mozilla in any way.
