java plugin is disabled in ff4, and doesn't appear on the plugin list for me to enable. It worked fine in earlier versions of ff and my current IE.
I have recently installed version 4 on Windows 7 and discover that Websites that require java don't display completely because java is disabled. I tried Tools->Add-ons->Plugins, but the java plugin isn't even listed. Earlier versions of firefox worked fine, and my current version of IE also continues to work fine. If I can't get this resolved soon I will have to abandon firefox, which will be too bad because I find it superior to IE in many respects.

Which version of Firefox did you previously have?
Did you check the setting in the Java Control Center?
This didn't do me any good. The problem can't be with the JRE; my previous firefox (which I think was 3.8) and my current IE do Java content just fine. I have not changed my JRE recently. I think something must have gone wrong with my installation of ff4. I will try installing the next update. If that doesn't work I will have to delete and re-install the whole thing, which I am not looking forward to because I will have to re-assign all my bookmarks.
Have you tried to check the java folder rights? I encountered the same issue, and it's working fine with the admin account...
I am not sure what you mean by "folder rights". I have JRE6. I turned on sharing (up t0 20 users), which I guess permits me to have many applications accessing JRE at the same time. I also turned off password protection (which shouldn't have any effect in the first place). I still do not see Java in the list of plug-ins when I do Tools->Add-ons Manager->plugins.
