Software update just continues to say "connecting to the update server" without doing anything. Please help.
My software update is stuck on the pop-up and the message just reads that it is connecting to update server. Have had this problem before with previous Firefox versions so I just downloaded the new one. It gets quite annoying to have to manually keep downloading new versions when the update should work just fine. Please help!

If you have problems with updating the your only option is to download the full version of the current release. Make sure that your security software or firewall isn't blocking the updater.
- Download a new copy of the Firefox program
- Firefox 4.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
- Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean (re-)install
- Install the new version that you have downloaded
Your profile data is stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder, so you won't lose your bookmarks and other personal data.
