New tabs open when I try to go to certain websites. It's like out of control pop ups
When I go to certain websites, such as www.cnn.com or even microsoft.com, a new tab opens to a different website, usually some kind of advertisement. This also happens when I do a web search using google or any other search engine. Regardless of the search, when I click on the result it takes me to a different website that appears to be advertising or promoting something. My current security, Trend Micro, has not been helpful with this problem, so I am reaching out to you. thanks!

Do a malware check with some malware scanning programs.
You need to scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.
