When I start Firefox 5.0 the find bar appears by default. I don't want this but don't see a way to turn it off by default. How can that be done?

Thank you!

Ctrl+F before you close the browser to close the find bar. Is it still open when you next start the browser?

See:

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

Thanks for your replies hoarmounth and cor-el. Of course I managed to fix the problem right after I posted. I opened Firefox from another account on my computer and didn't see the find bar by default so I guessed it was linked to something in my profile. I found by disabling the appearance add-on I had the find bar was "cleared" (i.e., not starting by default); as you suggested cor-el! I later was able to re-enable it and not have the problem with the find bar. I had the add-on from Firefox 4 and it appears like it didn't transfer overall correctly to 5. I'm a rookie what can I say!
