When is the Norton Toolbar going to work on Firefox 8?
Everytime I go on to Firefox 7 I get the a pop up box saying to install Firefox 8, I would do this only Norton isn't compatible with 8 so for the time being I will use FF7.
I did install 8 only to find the toolbar was disabled!!!

I rebooted OS (as per Stan0008's suggestion above) then on third reboot, Norton did not update properly. I contacted Norton at this point. Up until then, Norton Add ons were not visible in any of my menus either. Sod's Law they suddenly appeared in Tools menu when Norton were there remotely fiddling. You then need to enable your Norton Toolbar from there. There will be two options, one is toolbar and another also 'Norton Vulnerability Protections'; Enable both. (Or let Norton do it remotely... perhaps they wave a magic wand back there at their end to make the add on option appear in the first place...!)

Firefox 8 will release 8th november so they maybe release compatibility after two week via live update, ask norton support for more info
I've asked Norton via Twitter , and the live updates did work for FF7
as i say they will increase compatibility when Fx 8 release
lets see what happens then, until then I will use FF7 , thanks for giving me a time scale of release.
I ran LiveUpdate from Norton, and now the toolbar is working in FF8. Maybe that would work for you as well. :)

I'm aware the update from Norton and I am now running Firefox 8 with the Norton Toolbar working now, by looking at Norton;s Facebook Page >>> [ http://www.facebook.com/Norton & https://twitter.com/#!/NortonSupport ]
Yes, seems Symantec has provided an update for the same through Live Update. I ran LU manually this morning and it downloaded and updated an unusually large update (18 Mb) which seemed to include a patch for the same, besides other updates.
I am using Norton 360 Premier edition with the latest version and updates but I still cannot get the Norton toolbar on Firefox 8. I am using IE9 and th toolbar works fine with it.
I had to run Live Update 4 times re-starting the OS each time. I have the toolbar now.

@deedledum , same issue here with Firefox 8.0, while I was on 7 firefox wanted to update only Norton wasn't compatible with FF8 so I ignored it until norton was gone from the list on this pic >>> https://support.mozilla.com/media/uploads/images/2011-10-17-14-20-48-f49058.jpg
the best thing now that there is a solution is to keep running Live updates and then upgrade to FF8
Like many users of Firefox and Norton (360) Toolbar, I have experienced this problem over and over and over again. Mozilla Firefox used to have a site where you could re-install older versions of Firefox, but they now seem to update witthout keeping older installation files since 3.6. Once again now the Norton toolbar has been disabled with the latest update of ver 8.01 YES 8.01 not 9 or 10. I have tried Norton Live updates but still, the toolbar remains disabled as allegedly "incompatible" with 8.01. What is the LATEST fix for this as on March 22nd 2012.
I am so tired of this issue. It seems to come up again every 6 months ago and takes so much fiddling around to fix. Firefox has these hidden updates that disable the Norton Toolbar and we then have to wait for weeks or try complex deletions and re-installations. Let me know if you find a VALID solution.
