Just updated to v8, but now it *requires* ".com". Can this be changed back?
I just updated all our computers (OS X) to v.8. Immediately (and on all computers), you now must add ".com", else it takes you to Google (uugh!!).
How can we go back to earlier version, or change settings so it always looks for a .com if not typed in? If not, how can we change the search engine from that horrible Google??

You can modify the pref keyword.URL on the about:config page to choose which search engine to use.
You can also disable keyword search altogether and only use the fix-up.
Indeed - fantastic. It took me a while (searching through system and Firefox preferences) to realize that I need to type: about:config in the Firefox URL bar, but once I did, and saw the other choices on Mozilla help pages, I changed MANY - from "Google" to alternates.
THANK YOU!!!
