Firefox crashes
Firefox crashes as soon as I attempt to open it. It started happening when I updated to version 10 and 10.0.1. It won't open in safe mode and I've tried using a new profile which hasn't worked. Any ideas on how to get it working?

If you look at the other thread, it appears malware may sometimes cause this crash, and that the malware may now be detectable.

Hi,
If you have a security software you may have to re-trust Firefox in its settings. Please see this.
That didn't work. I just have Windows Firewall and I have re-added it to the exceptions list and it still crashes.
Please also check the settings in antivirus applications, if any.
Presumably you have already read and tried the tips in firefox crashes I will look up the crash report, and add that to the thread as a link. (It helps with cross linking posts that could have solutions in common)
Update.
- Your report for CrashID efc12896-e5a3-4af6-98c8-289862120216
- related bug718389
- Signature: PR_EnumerateAddrInfo
SORRY this crash type is under investigation but no solution yet see for instance my post /questions/918656#answer-311109
I did in the above linked thread suggest installing Firefox Portable 3.6.26, as an additional browser may be a workaround to get a working firefox browser available, that would then be able to use your bookmarks library (or a copy of it) if necessary.

Yes I have already tried the tips in the page you linked and I have checked to make sure it isn't an anti-virus program.
Would you like to try installing Firefox portable? to see if that works.
When you submit crash reports it may be of help to include a link to this thread in the comments. The developers may again try reaching out to those with the crash as it appears they have not yet managed to reproduce the crash themselves.
Firefox portable works.
Glad to hear that, at least it is progress. I will post that info in the bug report, it may help them. (Posting in bugs is NOT normally recommended, unless it is your own bug or you are a developer but I think they may consider this to be useful new information, especially as this thread or the pm system offers them a means to contact you if they so wish)

Turns out it was malware. The only program that actually found it was Ad-Aware like in the other thread. Thanks for the help.
Glad you solved the problem, thanks for posting back.
If you have details of the problem and malware identified it may help others.
