plugin-container.exe freezing Firefox on Java Dependent pages
I've been happily using Firefox for years, and as an IT professional I recommend it to all my clients. I've never come across an issue I couldn't fix until now. I've adopted Google Voice as my office phone which seems to be very Java dependent. Upon upgrading from FF 12 to 13 not only was my Google voice broken, but its also caused some type of Java error. This happens with any combination of the following apps...
FF 11, 12, 13, 14b Java 7 update 4, and 7 update 5 Google Voice
I've used JavaRa which has fixed these types of errors in the past. But as of this date, it is unable to remove what I believe to be a registry key. The Error log is as follows.

I receive this error even with Firefox uninstalled. I've tried using Revo Uninstaller to remove Firefox, as well as Java, and have been unsuccessful. Upon reinstalling Firefox, ANY page that uses Java triggers plugin-container.exe which locks up Firefox. When I kill the service "plugin-container.exe" I regain control of Firefox for a moment, the page again triggers "plugin-container.exe" and the vicious circle continues. Its only upon closing of the page triggering the service, or Firefox asking to "stop the script", that I regain full control.
I've fixed this error once by removing, by hand and very very carefully, each reference to java in my registry. But as soon as I'm asked to update, the problem returns. I refuse to do it again, so I'm stuck with Chrome at the moment.
A search referencing the error messages I've recevied will show I'm not the only one receving this error. I've yet to find a valid fix, even though sites report "Solved" its total bs. Error Message Search

@jscher2000: dom.ipc.plugins.java.enabled was untouched.... false...
Bear in mind, I'm on a x64 machine if your using this article to resolve your own issue.....
I manually excised my registry once again. I was using the following page for Java testing / debugging Collaborative JavaScript Debugging With the lastest Java Runtime Environment 1.7.0.5 (64-bit) I'm now able to load the page where I couldn't before.
The following keys remained after uninstalling FF. Their removal help, but was NOT a fix-all... If your trying to remove FF completely the following keys can be found by searching your registry for "MozillaPlugins". Always backup your registry, and if you don't understand this, ignore it. Editing your registry incorrectly can cripple your computer!!!
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\MozillaPlugins HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\MozillaPlugins HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\MozillaPlugins HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-823909830-1660360419-4099681337-1001\Software\MozillaPlugins (yours will differ)
I don't know whether it was because I was using FF 13.0.1 and the latest Flash Player 11.3.300.257, or the fact that jscher2000 mentioned Flash... But upon successfully resolving my Java issue, Flash started causing the same freezing issue in FF. lol... I tested Flash Player 11.3.300.257 in FF 13, and it was a non-issue. Flash worked perfectly, while Java triggered my plugin-container.exe freezing issue. With FF 13.0.1 reverting to Flash Player 11.2.202.235 solved my problem... plugin-container.exe is still triggered by both java and flash, but its behaving finally. YAY...

JavaRa was very helpful in resolving my initial issue.
Download full flash versions here , adobe's site makes you install a downloader to get Flash... :-p

You can run Java in Firefox.exe instead of plugin-container.exe, but I'm not sure that actually would be better than where you are now.
(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
(2) In the filter box, type or paste java and pause while the list is filtered
(3) If dom.ipc.plugins.java.enabled is true (bolded), right-click it and choose Reset (or double-click it to toggle).
If that value already is false, you might be having a problem with another common plugin such as Flash.
