Could you mention where you see the message that you should upgrade? If you are using the "old" Firefox home page ([http://www.google.com/firefox?client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official]), there is a hardcoded message there below the search box that doesn't actually change even after you upgrade. Please just ignore that message.
