Have uninstalled Adobe Flash Plug-in and reinstalled latest version. Had recently downloaded FF 19.0.1 and when I did a System Restore to last week which was before this problem started, went back to FF 16.2. Checked and all my plug-ins are up to date. Don't know what else to try. Please help!

P.S. Didn't update FF previously because I was trying to retain Red Cats with Green Flavor add-on.

Hi, Jaya, and thanks for your reply. I've updated to FF 20.0.1 and managed to keep my red cats.

This is a link to one of my many animated gifs in Photobucket. I have to wait another 15 hrs. to receive the daily e-mail with the animated gifs.

Hope this helps. Marsha

I copied that link from Photobucket. Here's a link to a website where you can see some gifs that aren't moving any more for me. There's one above the "about me" blurb that should continuously spell out C-A-T-S and the three below should be continuously moving as well.

The gifs in the daily e-mails are taken from here:

Please just paste the links and do not use the toolbar button.

You can check the value of the image.animation_mode pref on the about:config page.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window or otherwise make changes.

There is also security software (firewall, anti-virus) that can block animation and only pass the first image of the sequence to Firefox.

Hi, cor-el! Do you want me to resend the links?

I tried to get into about:config but it's way above my computer knowledge.

Under Add-ons I have Default Mode and Red Cats with Green Flavor. When one is enabled, the other disables itself.

In Tools>Options>Content, Load Images Automatically and Enable Javascript are both checked.

I was told by a tech about a month ago that I don't have a firewall. At that time, he downloaded Avast for me. Seeing the immobile gifs only began a few days ago.

As you've probably guessed, my computer knowledge is VERY limited. I'd really appreciate it if any instructions for me could be in very simple language. Thanks.

No, there is no need to resend the links because I have edited the replies to correct the links, so you can now click them.

You had code like this because you pasted the link in the subject field and not in the external link field.

To whoever reads this: hope I haven't been given up on because of my limited computer knowledge.

Yesterday evening when I opened FF, there was a small notice at the bottom of the screen that appeared to be from FF asking if I'd agree to have my software scanned. I immediately clicked okay but became worried later that it wasn't really from FF. Anxious to have this animation issued solved, unfortunately I didn't think to ask here first if it was legit or to take a screenshot.

I hope to hear that it was legit and part of an effort to find out what's causing the animation problem. Also, I'll be pleased to take whatever steps needed to resolve the problem provided I can understand the instructions. Thanks.

Do you see the animation if you select an image that should animate in Tools > Page Info > Media ?

Boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.
