sound will not work through desktop speakers
My sound works through the desktop speakers with internet explorer and through video games but with firefox the sound will not play through my desktop speakers it will only play through the headset. I updated the java and flash pluggins for firefox, I cleared the cashe, I read the do this if your sound doesn't work but none of that is helping. Maybe firefox got the hiccups somewhere along the way of splitting the sound between the headset and the desktop speakers?

Did you try to reboot the computer?
Did you check the default sound device in the sound manager via the volume icon on the Windows task bar?
I went into MSCONFIG and enabled everything, I checked the volume mixer to make sure firefox was not muted and that the volume was all the way up, and yes I checked the sound device I use that method to swap between my audio playing through the headset and the speakers. I've deleted firefox including any personal data and add ons. Did a fresh install on it.
Oh and yes I've restarted the computer several times.
You most likely need to close and restart Firefox after changing the default audio device to make Firefox use it.
That does not work. I've used a shortcut to my sounds for like a year now and I just keep that open. I'm constantly changing the default sound device from my headset to the speakers and vice versa and I've never had to restart firefox. Even now I can swap from the speakers to the headset and the sound plays through the headset like a charm and as soon as I swap it back to speakers no sound.
Ugh I finally found it. On the volume mixer for the desktop speakers the volume for Adobe Flash Player was all the way at the bottom. I saw this earlier and had adjusted it but I guess it didn't stick. This all happened because I wanted to be cool and adjust what proggies started through msconfig and I turned off Adobe Flash player thinking it was only for viewing documents.
