I can view youtube videos however I am unable to view certain websites. It just comes up with a black screen when loading the media. BBC Iplayer is a prime example. I have the latest flash, it is updated and has been installed and uninstalled repeatedly. I have started firefox in safe mode and it is the same problem. I have cleared the flash player cache. Also my screensaver, has just stopped working and it keeps saying flash player is not installed, even though it is....is this part of the same issue?

Thank you very much for your help

If you use extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) that can block content (e.g. Adblock Plus, NoScript, Flash Block, Ghostery) then make sure that such extensions aren't blocking content.

I have found that some flash components on certain websites require Adobe Shockwave to work. Try installing Shockwave and see if that solves your problem.

Www. Adobe.com go to the Download tab then choose Shockwave.

I have this same problem and am now on day 2 of trying to fix it. I have restored my system - reloaded firefox, updated adobe flash and done everything everyone on these posts has suggested. All I can say is that when I go to adobe website it says it is loaded and working and I see the video - however, on cbc, bbc and other sites I get an empty black box - no player is evident. I have taken off the anti-virus, I have checked the plugins and they all are up to date - the one thing I note is that in the plug-ins it is called Shockwave Flash which I saw someone say is not the same thing - but what confuses me is that the shockwave flash says it was loaded today and the only thing I loaded today is the adobe flash - so if it is not the same, how do I get it to be listed as a plugin - according to adobe page it says it has been loaded as a plugin for firefox and it says it is working - ahhhhhh - help!!!!

Hi Everyone

I have used Firefox for years now and until about 6 months ago had a brilliant experience.

I have 3 computers in my home all running Windows 7 64 Bit and they all suffer with the same problem. Sometimes they will run for weeks without a problem but then the dreaded 'Flash Player has crashed' box pops up and you can't watch any more content, you tube videos etc until you re-install the darn thing.

So lets talk about the real problem here, since Internet explorer and Chrome don't have this problem why is Firefox so bad, is it being attacked by hackers or ruthless competition?

Regards

Tony

Hi frudtr8d, I replied to your other post here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/967767#answer-497336

Hi Tony, what are you reinstalling -- Firefox or Flash? That shouldn't be necessary.

Firefox logs data for Flash crashes, and you can submit that data to Mozilla's crash database. If you do that, then there is a crash ID you can post here for volunteers to review and see whether they can spot any obvious issues. This article (last section) describes how to track down and share those crash IDs: Troubleshoot Firefox crashes (closing or quitting unexpectedly).

Hi Thanks for the reply. It's the flash player that i am re-installing, the rest of the browser seems to be alright for the viewing of pages in general it's just when you click on any page content that requires flash. To do the job properly I now uninstall the flash player with the adobe uninstall app and then re-install the latest player as instructed. Whichever computer I'm having the problem with will then run properly for the rest of that session and maybe even work for a couple of days then the whole problem starts again. Regards Tony
