Recently when I visit Facebook and the Mozilla Page on my Desktop Computer (I am writing this on my laptop because this website does not function on my PC) using Firefox, the pages do not display correctly. Instead of the Facebook page appearing in it's usual blue-coloured format it shows as lines of text (not HTML code, but just lines of text, such as "Connect with friends..." in a different font than it should, its all black and white, no colour). Also the top of the screen has written "Facebook Logo" in blue underlined italics instead of the actual logo.

Does anyone know what may be causing this problem? If so, could you provide me with a solution? I have already tried several support topics (i.e. clearing cache, cookies etc.) but this does not help.

Please tell me if you require more detail or wish for me to elaborate/describe my issue in an alternate way.

Thank you very much.

Does the problem still occur when you run Firefox in Safe Mode?

Firefox Safe Mode

Make sure that you haven't enabled a High Contrast theme in the Windows/Mac Accessibility settings.

Make sure that you allow pages to choose their own colors.

  • Tools > Options > Content : Fonts & Colors > Colors : [X] "Allow pages to choose their own colors, instead of my selections above"

Note that these settings affect background images.

ComputerWhiz, yes the problem still occurs, which means that it isn't caused by add-ons, correct?

Boot the computer in Windows Safe Mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.

You can try to reset (power off/on) the router.

Reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.

  • Hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
  • Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
  • Press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)

The problem is this.
For some reason your browser is not loading the CSS or JavaScript from the webpages. It is only loading the HTML codes which act as a webpage's skeleton. The CSS and JavaScript are the skin and make-up that make the webpage function and look nice.

Does this issue occur when you use any of these browsers?

  • Google Chrome
  • Internet Explorer
  • Opera
  • Apple Safari

I have FF 25.0.1,and for the last few updates, one website I visit regularly does not work normally.I am attaching an image of one page, and when I click on the "read reviews" button, nothing happens. The same page displayed using Chrome works correctly-clicking on the "read Reviews" opens up a new page displaying reviews. If I click on "write review" in FF,that works normally! I have tried cleaning FF of cookies, but that doesn't help.

Hi Newbeak

Looks that you have an extension that is blocking content.

If you use extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) that can block content (e.g. Adblock Plus, NoScript, Flash Block, Ghostery) then make sure that such extensions aren't blocking content.

Thanks a lot. This helped me.

Hi ComputerWhiz

I think you are about to help me too, cause I also have the similar problem. After I stop clicking scrolling on any website windows I opened, their background color turn to black instead of transparent so to browse again I need to refresh them every time. ( I still can see/read through but it is deemed). Or right click and go to "inspect element" then to "inspector" to change background color from black to transparent. Well, you know it is CSS. I have tried all the things like disabling ad-on and extensions even cleaned the comp with new Kaspersky and Registry Fix Files software. Nothing. Please give me a solution. Is it something to do with Java Script? Thank you. However it does not happen on my off-line, internal files.
