Hi, recently I re-installed Windows 7 due to technical issues. Until now, I have been able to read Korean on Firefox, but for some reason, now Korean characters show up as boxes. I've gone through other forums and follows all the instructions dealing with Character Encoding, but nothing seems to work. The funny thing is Korean seems to work in all other browsers, but I really prefer Firefox over the others :P Also, I've re-installed Windows several times on other computers, but this is the first time I've faced this problem. Help would be much appreciated, thank you!

Also, I've attached some screenshots in case they help. http://i.imgur.com/5NDzs6e.png http://i.imgur.com/BR9HOM4.png

Does this only happen with Korean pages?

This is likely a problem with the font that is used on the Google website.

You can right-click that field and click Inspect Element to open the inspector and click the font tab in the right pane to see which font is used.

You can try different default fonts and temporarily disable website fonts to test the selected default font.

  • Tools > Options > Content : Fonts & Colors > Advanced
  • [ ] "Allow pages to choose their own fonts, instead of my selections above"

You can do a font test to see if you can identify corrupted font(s).

This is most likely not a Firefox issue. The issue is most likely that the Korean font is not installed on your computer.

Are both of the screenshots on the question from the same computer?

For future reference, screenshots can be added on the support forum, via the Browse... button. Because of viruses and malware always being a threat, people are less likely to open the links with the pictures because of the infection threat.

Oh, will make sure to do that next time haha. And yeah, they're from the same computer so I don't think that's the issue. Like I said, on chrome, Korean shows up everywhere.
