Hello WINTERCOMES, check windows firewall (or your personal firewall if windows firewall is deactivated) , make sure to allow firefox access. Check your antivirus also.

Hello, I have disable all firewalls. The same problem remains. Now I have uninstalled and reinstalled both firefox and chrome. Firefox: No internet access at all. Chrome: Only access to google.com website; no access to other website. I have tried to ping all kinds of websites. Response is very low.

1. Run cmd.exe as an administrator
2. Type "netsh winsock reset", and then press enter
3. Restart PC

I had the exact same problem with chrome and firefox after updating to windows 8.1 and ianself's solution worked! thank you so much :)

@johan007: To run it as an administrator, type "cmd.exe" into Search and then right-click on Command Prompt to select 'Run as administrator'

I used ianself reply you have to rightclick on command prompt run as administrator and follow ianself tip after that browsers ans e-mail worked ok

Thanks, I think it worked but sometimes mozilla freezzes and dont loads the page, is it normal?

Ok, one thing, when i did this it worked perfectly but with the freezes i said. But i tried to use iexporer and activated the trooble shoter and all come back to the slow crap internet so my question is, my computer is the one with the problem or is my modem? PD: I have a vaio e series and I actualized from 8 to 8.1
