Bookmarks does not go to favorites directlu like on my wifes computer
Hi, When I click on Favorites on IE11 and FF27 on my wife's computer it goes to the list. On mine goes to a dialogue box and then I have to click on IE favorites. Annoying. Must be a fix.

What dialog do you get?
Can you attach a screenshot?

Use a compressed image type like PNG or JPG to save the screenshot.
How or what did you click? Did you use hot (short cut) keys?
Hi fred-hotmail, Thanks for questions. I did NOT use short keys. That sounds like the right direction. HP sent a suggestion but I did it that way, that is import from another browser. They said uninstall and install FF. I may end up doing that but hope there is a fix first. Another FF support person asked if I could get a screen shot. Trying to learn how to do that. Says I need Microsoft Paint..
I know it can be done as my wife's FF works that way!

Screen shot = Windows > Start > search box > Snipping Tool.
Save the picture to your desktop. Now look at the Reply box below. Do you
see the button under it that says Browse? Click it and then select the screen
shot(s) from the desktop.
Short Cut Keys
History = <Shift + Control> H
Bookmarks = <Shift + Control> B
Go to Mozilla.org to download and save the FULL installer. Then
Windows > Control Panel > Programs > Uninstall. Remove Firefox but
not the personal information. After, run the full installer. The new FF will
put itself into the old folder and read the information there. There should
only minimal loss of data.
LAST RESORT ! !
Reset Firefox
Let us know how you are doing.
Hi, Have the screen shot in .jpg format uploaded below using 'Paint'. I think you can make it bigger. As you can (I hope) I get a dialogue box instead of bookmarks. My wife HP computer running W8.1 FF26 does not have this issue. I saw someplace a lot of dialogue box issues with FF. I have done 3 uninstalls 2 removing personal setting. 1 reset, no different.
Think it is a design issue. I think you(s) are Forum people not for for FF? If so thanks for your help. My wife wants me back that screen shot is tough.
thanks,
ridinghigh
Do you know how to use a computers file / directory explorer? Basically, the library (bookmarks, history, downloads) works like a file browser. To get a better view, <Shift + Control> + B or H.
You may want to hide the Menu bar via View > Toolbars.
You get the orange Firefox menu button when the Menu bar is hidden.
- Firefox menu button > Options
- View > Toolbars (press F10 to display the hidden Menu bar)
- Right-click empty toolbar area

- Use "Firefox > Options" instead of "Tools > Options" when the Menu bar is hidden.
Hi Cor-el,
Clever hiding the menu bar. But the basic click of bookmarks continue... As frustrating these issues are sure learn a lot.
thanks

Do you have the Bookmarks Menu button that shows all bookmarks visible?
You can copy or move the bookmarks from IE out of their "From Internet Explorer" folder to the Bookmarks Menu folder for easier access.

Hi Cor-el,
If you can see in the screen shot that dialogue box shows up, rather than a list of book marks. Apparently the real bookmarks belong in the unsorted bookmarks and when you click on bookmarks suppose to go to the unsorted list only. Getting close I think. Seems like FF is plagued with dialogue box issues..
thanks ridinghigh
The Unsorted Bookmarks folder is only visible in the Bookmarks Sidebar and in the Library, so you need to move those bookmarks out of the Unsorted folder to a folder in the Bookmarks Menu folder to have them visible in the Bookmarks drop-down list.
Hi all,
Problem fixed. HP help had said to say 'no' to the install after uninstall, on Firefox 27, on Bookmarks during the install process. Just say yes to get bookmarks from IE and works fine. That is click on Bookmarks and get bookmarks not a dialogue box.
Thanks to all that helped I learned a lot from yous..

Hi ridinghigh, I'm not sure what your Bookmarks Menu looks like after your reinstall, but you can use the Library dialog to reorganize your bookmarks up to the top level instead of keeping them in a "From Internet Explorer" folder. For example, after expanding that menu, you can select everything and drag and drop it on Bookmarks Menu to move it up to that higher level. Hopefully that will make it as convenient as it was to use your Favorites menu in IE.
